It's not until you are well and truly wading through the wealth of special features on the 2-disc special edition DVD of the 1947 Christmas current "The Miracle on 34th Street" that one realizes that the release features not objective two versions of the movie, but three.
For not only does the release feature the novel dismal & white version shown in theaters and the circa 1980s colorized version of the same feature film, but also hidden away on the second disc is the curiously titled "20th Century Fox Hour of the Stars: The Miracle on 34th Street," which turns out to be a 46 miniature 1950s remake for television that is surprisingly in incredibly gracious quality.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Miracle on 34th Street! Click Here
The inclusion of this feature is indicative of Fox's loving tribute to this family movie gem that is this 2-disc release. Prior to its release the studio had no thought how to market what it considered to be an "unimportant program characterize" and stuck it in the middle of its summer schedule with a trailer (shown here as a 5-minute promotional short) that did not feature one single clip from the movie and went at lengths to shroud it's Yuletide theme.
The chronicle is so well known that it hardly bears relating in this review. Suffice to say that it charts the efforts of a man (played in an Academy Award winning performance by British actor Edmund Gwenn) to be legally recognized as Santa Claus, which in fact he is and to persuade a doubting young girl (played by Natalie Wood in a star-turning performance) and a practical realist (played by Maureen O'Hara) that he is indeed Father Christmas. Picked to replace a liquor induced Santa as the Macy's Parade Santa he is a smashing success and indeed Gwenn's performance is so amazing that Natalie Wood really did acquire that she was acting opposite Santa Claus.
Perhaps the best special feature in this release (in what is a tough choice given its extraordinary company) is the feature length audio commentary by Maureen O'Hara. Recorded at her home in Ireland this past August the DVD warns us that this is merely excerpts of that interview with frequent tranquil sections. But I must say that this is happily not entirely fair. O'Hara is clearly watching the movie (discussing elements on the mask as they occur), but also is more talkative than other commentaries that I have listened to that do not have a similar warning.
In the commentary O'Hara recounts being forced to remain in the United States following the outbreak of hostilities in World War II and subsequently angry when (after being allowed to return to her native Ireland) on being ordered attend to the U.S. to do this film. She tells us that other considered titles were "The Enormous Heart" and "It's Only Human" and how once she read the script she was certain to be eager in what she saw as a warm and affectionate movie. O'Hara also talks about the parade itself and reveals that it was the precise parade with people in the crowd not being aware that Fox was shooting a movie that day.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Miracle on 34th Street! Click Here
Also included in this release is the 22-minute "AMC Backstory" that takes us slow the scenes of the production. Including are on-camera interviews with film historian Rudy Behlmer, actress Maureen O'Hara, actor Robert Hyatt (who played Thomas Mara Jr.), actor Alvin Greenman (who played Alfred), Natalie Wood biographer Suzanne Finstad and Natalie's sister Lana Wood. The documentary traces the genesis to the movie assist to a fateful trail to a Los Angeles department store by screenwriter Valentine Davies. Fighting through holiday shoppers on 1944's Christmas Eve in an exertion to select a gift for his wife, Davies wondered what Santa Claus would design of the commercialism of Christmas. After working on the screenplay for over a year the project was optioned by Fox, who evidently had no notion what they had.
In what was a mountainous risk the filmmakers agreed when Macy's and rival store Gimble Bros. said they would withold permission for their names to be frail in the film until they had seen the finished film. Fox need not have scared though because it was a important and commercial success staying in theaters for over six months and taking home three of its nominated four Oscars. In fact its popularity is such that it has not only been remade in the included 1950s TV production, but again in a 1970s TV movie and then in a 1994 colossal budget production (and clips from all three are featured in the AMC Backstory) .
An archival MovieTone News reel (running 1:42) covers those awards presentations and includes the celebrated quote from a shapely shaven Gwenn when receiving his statue, "Phew. This original documentary features on-camera interviews with Robert M. Grippo (author of a book on the parade) and John W. Straus who worked on the parade for 22 years and coordinated with the studio that the filming of the parade (with their 14 camera's positioned along the route) went off without a hitch.
The special features are rounded out with nine posters for the movie.
Audio includes English 5.1 Dolby Surround, English mono, French mono and Spanish mono.

To say that this is a film with a message would be an understatement, because it comes across so emphatically certain and succinct, and it is this: To wage a war against drugs, you must first advance to terms with the sobering fact that the enemy is often a member of your believe family; and how do you wage a war against your believe family? A sobering message? Insightful? Indeed. And, when you think the implications of it all, devastating. Ponder that awhile and you'll originate to come by a sense of the futility visited upon those who would attempt to rectify a location that affects practically everyone everywhere sooner or later, either directly or indirectly; and it is objective that plot that is addressed and presented with no-holds-barred by director Steven Soderbergh in his shimmering, hard hitting film, "Traffic," starring Michael Douglas and Benicio Del Toro. The film examines the trafficking of drugs between Mexico and the United States, and the long-ranging effects thereof; and Soderbergh tells the yarn through a number of perspectives, which effectively presents the "large record" of the drug trade and the subsequent impact it all has on the lives of so many people.
Probably the most telling perspective in terms of futility is that which is shown through the eyes of Robert Wakefield (Michael Douglas), a mediate who is appointed the country's "Drug Czar," and given the task of "making a incompatibility." It's a pivotal character inasmuch as it is through his involvement that so powerful information is presented, not all of which is anything modern, but when taken within the context of the account has a broad emotional impact. Through Wakefield, not only is the unbelievably far-reaching dilemma of illegal drugs illuminated, but the attitudes of all of those it touches on all levels, from the heads of the Mexican cartels to the kids who utilize and abuse the product made so readily available to them by the drug lords.
A man of principle and high ideals, Wakefield begins by educating and familiarizing himself with all facets of the drug trade. He swiftly learns that although he is far from naive in terms of the reality of what he is dealing with, he actually has no conception of the depth and scope of it, like how grand better equipped and financed the cartels are than the U.S. Government, for instance. Another troubling aspect of the narrative racy Wakefield is the lack of respect accorded him by the young people with whom he comes into contact, not only in his official dwelling, but simply as a human being-- especially by his believe sixteen-year-old daughter and her "friends." Unfortunately, it realistically reflects an attitude prevalent within a wide faction of our society today; and it's one of the strengths of the film that it can so succinctly purchase something so distressing, something that should be of monumental pain to everyone, for it's an integral section of a larger something that touches us all. Also realistically portrayed is Wakefield's reaction to all of this; the helplessness born of the minute ways of combating what he encounters is extremely well realized and conveyed by the film, and it enhances even more that already overpowering sense of futility.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Traffic! Click Here
From the Mexican side of the border, the fable unfolds through the perspective of Javier Rodriguez Rodriguez (Benicio Del Toro), a customary of the Mexican Highway Patrol; and it's from his side of the fence that we commence to understand the ramifications of the politics, money and power, and ruthlessness that so empowers the cartels. In these segments, the dialogue is in Spanish (with English subtitles), and Soderbergh uses a tint to the film that lends a visual sense of detachment to the action; it's almost like watching an obsolete newsreel, which gives it an air of authenticity that works because it's incorporated with the emotional substance that ultimately provides the genuine impact.
The superlative cast Soderbergh assembled for this film includes Don Cheadle, Luis Guzman, Dennis Quaid, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Steven Bauer, Jacob Vargas, Erika Christensen, Miguel Ferrer, Amy Irving, Tomas Milian and James Brolin. An necessary film of gut-wrenching implications and staggering emotional proportions, "Traffic" evokes a sense of futility and loss (especially in the final scenes) that is, at times, overwhelming. It makes you realize unbiased how gigantic the drug trafficking trade is, and how any efforts to eliminate or even maintain it simply pale in the light of it's enormity. It's like a terminal cancer, spreading and eating away at the fabric of our society; a disease that reduces the value of human life to the barest minimum. It's a movie that will affect everyone on a different level emotionally, depending somewhat upon personal experience and frame of reference, but there is no doubt that this is a film that will produce a lasting impression on anyone who sees it; but be prepared, for this is grand drama that elicits a sense of hopelessness which-- I'm positive for many-- may hit fair a bit too conclude to home for comfort.
2000 was a agreeable year for director Steven Soderbergh. First was the inspiring "Erin Brockovich", then the tense, complicated, well-acted "Traffic", which was probably the best movie of last year and which won Soderbergh the Oscar for Best Director. The state is constructed of five interlinking sets of people: a newly appointed American drug czar and his family, the Mexican drug cartel, two Tiajuana plainclothes men, a couple of U.S. wiretap specialists, and a wealthy San Diego family whose fortune is a petite less than legitimate. Michael Douglas is the star, playing the drug czar who discovers that his teenage daughter (Erika Christensen) has been inhaling free unpleasant and is crooked. Don Cheadle and Luis Guzman are nicely paired as the eavesdroppers, and Steven Bauer and Catherine Zeta-Jones play the San Diego couple whose lives collapse when an informer names the husband as a leading importer=exporter of illegal drugs. Dennis Quaid, who gets over-the-title billing, is convincing in a slight, unsympathetic role as their opportunistic lawyer. Ms Zeta-Jones' character is the most controversial, morphing from suburban mom to Lady Macbeth true before our eyes. But, of course, most of the attention has been focused on Benicio Del Toro as Javier Rodriguez Rodriguez, the Mexican cop whose loyalties are constantly being challenged. He deservedly won the Oscar, though in the deplorable category. Because his character both opens and ends the chronicle, and because he has (I deem) more camouflage time than Douglas, he should have been nominated for Best Actor. Some of the movie's state elements, particularly in the second half, don't work. The informer is obviously poisoned by a breakfast that is brought to him while his police escort is in the room. Why would they allow a stranger to encourage food to a heavily-protected space contemplate? (The informer is played by Miguel Ferrer, the son of Jose Ferrer and Rosemary Clooney.) Also, I didn't enjoy the drug czar's aborted acceptance speech for a dinky, and his daughter's return from the wearisome was too pat and painless. But the collected conclusion, with Javier watching a baseball game, was effective, proving that Stephen Gaghan's screenplay (another Oscar) didn't need a bang-up ending to complete a forceful anecdote.
little girl toys
s500i review

This bulky length medical thriller was created completed in 1996, disagreeable on a current manga series created a decade before by Osamu Tezuka. It's position, not particularly unusual then, and grand hackneyed now, is the epic of an experiment gone out of control. Brane Pharmaceutical has discovered a arrangement to stimulate permanent secretion of endorphins. This has fueled the creation of a group of humans with superhuman abilities, who have unprejudiced as suddenly begun to burn out and die.
The culprit it the same virus that stimulates the endorphins in the first spot, and it has begun to affect others besides the recent patients - an artificially created plague. Dismal Jack finds the cause, but this only unmasks the source of the pains. It will rob a miracle to bag the cure and preventative.
By rights, this should have been an tantalizing tale. In the fresh Japanese, the script is terse and brutal, producing a stylized gothic accomplish that is enough to overcome a listless absorbing status. Unfortunately, the dubbing took gross liberties with the script and under-acted the parts. The result is a wordy and sometimes lifeless performance. After all, the point of the epic - the dangers of irresponsible medical research - is definite enough so that there is no need to belabor it.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Black Jack! A miniature better editing and writing would have made this a memorable anguish. Instead, it is only a reach miss. A mistake that should never have happened.
Having fond memories of "Astro Boy" from my youth, one day I ventured into the bookstore and picked up "Unlit Jack" by Osamu Tezuka, the "God of Manga" and creator of my beloved Astro.
I was quite ecstatic. Tezuka's reputation is well-deserved. The collection of stories dilapidated a gifted surgeon on the outskirts of the law as a vehicle for some very spirited morality tales. My well-liked account from this first volume has to be that of the young man who is about to demolish himself at the beginning of the tale, having failed his college entrance exams. But, partially thanks to Sunless Jack, he learns what a trusty life and death area is, and ends up rededicating himself to become a doctor. Tezuka has a proper knack for dramatic storytelling, and for cutting good to the heart (no pun intended) of the very fresh negate he chooses.
I had all this in my mind when I bought the movie Dark Jack, and I articulate I expected the same style of storytelling to be there. Unfortunately, and in hindsight not surprisingly, it wasn't. Shaded Jack the surgeon was, by all accounts, factual to his character, but the myth simply is NOT a Gloomy Jack memoir. Gone are the considerable issues of the life of an individual, into which a seemingly god-sent surgeon walks at unbiased the apt moment. Gone is the narrative of apt absolutism, the putrid men receiving their comeuppance and the agreeable men learning from their mistakes.

Well now, what do we have here? It is nothing less than one of the best and sexiest southern fried dramas from the 1950's. This adaptation of several works of William Faulkner is a tour de force for everyone keen. How lucky are we to have two tremendous films on southern family life starring Paul Newman advance out in 1958? This film is a graceful companion portion to "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof", a bit more upbeat than "Cat" but mild burly of sound and fury.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Long, Hot Summer! Click Here
As Ben Posthaste, Paul Newman ignites the cover and fairly burns down half of Mississippi in the process with his unbelievable magnetism. He brings to Like A Flash all he as to acquire as an actor and creates one of his early memorable performances. Objective sight him as bare chested he hugs his pillow on the hot veranda while watching Joanne Woodward through a conceal door sitting up in her bed trying to ignore him, or his paddle across the Varner yard early on in the film, his interactions with Orson Wells or Tony Franciosa. He is every slump the "mean and dirty" barnburner everyone thinks he is. He is objective what the Varner family and Clara Varner in particular need to feed their respective fever dreams brought on by the heat of this particular August in the south.

Hitting her marks in a grand performance is Joanne Woodward. She being a legal daughter of the South comes to the table with and extra barrel loaded. As Clara Varner she is both needy and steely, a magnolia ready to be plucked but at that same time disquieted that she will be passed over and left to wither on the vine. Her scene in the general store after closing time with Newman is fair about one of the steamiest cherish scenes ever filmed this
side of "Picnic". Miss Woodward here in this film is pure magic to peek and in combination with Paul Newman the pair become an alchemy of fireworks and lightning bugs on a summers night.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Long, Hot Summer! I would go on about each of them but I mediate it best to let them surprise you. That's half the fun of the film.

The pick up by Alex North is memorable and one of his best. The cinematography by Joseph LeShelle captures the hazy heat of Mississippi. And Martin Ritt's direction of all parties concerned is perfectly on target. Be determined to check some of his other collaborations with Newman, "Paris Blues", "Hud" to mention only two.

Pour yourself a substantial sweet tea, kick off your shoes and start the veranda doors and let the scramble of this long hot summer envelope you.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The TV-movie version of "The Long, Hot Summer" suffers from miscasting (Judith Ivey was passable, but impartial, and I can't determine if Don Johnson's attempt to absorb Paul Newman's shoes represents touching bravery or misguided arrogance), poor accents, and jarring anachronisms.

This film, the 1958 recent, leaves it in the dust. Newman and Woodward generate palpable heat, and Orson Welles--clammy, jowly, bullfrog-voiced, crudely vigorous--is unforgettable as a classically bullying, overbearing Southern patriarch. In inequity to the pallid TV remake, it features a top cast whose work transcends the sometimes creaky melodrama of the residence. Nearly every white Southern archetype is brought to life: the brutish, domineering, castrating patriarch; the arch, charming, coyly seductive belle with hot pants; the aging good-time girl, simultaneously randy and prim, with her contemplate on the prize of a rich widower; the hotheaded but venerable son and heir, goaded to jealousy by his seductive, flirtatious wife and utterly dominated by his father, whom he both adores and despises; the sharp-tongued passe maid, smoldering with repressed fire, who honest needs a "proper man" to pick the residence of her suspiciously lukewarm long-term suitor; and, of course, the waggish, charming, sexy, potentially uncertain outsider, spiritual heir to Rhett Butler, who gets both the community and the heroine in a lather. There's even a lynch mob--chasing a white man, for a change.

Skip the TV-movie remake, which at best is a clunky imitation, in favor of the classic--if for no other reason than to gawk Paul Newman, at the peak of his beauty, in an undershirt. If that's not inducement enough, it's also marvelously cast, scripted, acted, and directed, and it captures Southern family dynamics with humor, pathos, and wince-inducing accuracy.

The new series of "Battlefield" dealing with World War II, in addition to "Battlefield Vietnam" are probably the finest film documentaries on these wars ever made. They only deal with the tall, strategic idea of the war, not engaging personal interviews or descriptions of itsy-bitsy scale engagements. The thought is to concept the major battles of the war as they were seen by the top decision makers. Emphasis is placed on the context of the battle being examined within the entire framework of the war. Thus, they are designed for an audience that has more than fair a superficial interest in the subject.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Battlefield: The Battle of Kursk! Unfortunately, it seems they were done on a shoestring because although the general plan of the series is maintained, it is of generally lower quality. The maps peep mighty more amateurish and there are numerous mispellings point to. However, this episode on the chronicle Battle of Kursk is up to the standards of the originals and it gives a very superior concept of this battle.

The Facets DVD of Un Chien Andalou is a disgrace. The frame was severly cropped at the top (some scenes feature actors lopped off at their foreheads) . Difference was boosted to the point where famous detail is lost. As if this weren't enough, there is a wide frightful glitch running horizontally across the camouflage that lasts for 5 or so frames. Despite the interviews with Bunuel's son which are the only things worth the time here, I would avoid this disc. The film itself I assume is gigantic. It's a shame that a staple of art cinema has been handled so poorly for DVD.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Un Chien Andalou! The film was made in collaboration with the large surrealistic artist, Salvador Dali; this pairing was repeated for the 1930 masterpiece "L'Age D'Or." Viewing the first tentative steps of two giants is obviously enthralling, which is enough to recommend "Un Chien Andalou."

As with other big surrealistic films, the position, such as it is, does not develop any sense. Of course, themes can be derived from the work, although surrealism essentially is meant to be non-thematic. Some of the images from "Un Chien Andalou" are horrible and justifiably noted -- most notably a scene depicting a straight razor slicing into a woman's eyeball. Yes, these scenes are somewhat disgusting but also improbable for a film over 75 years feeble.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Un Chien Andalou! Bunuel added a music track in 1960 to what was originally a still film; the net works beautifully. The DVD extras include an interview with Bunuel's son in which he discusses "Un Chien Andalou" as well as his father's rather tumultuous relationship with Dali. An audio commentary by Spanish surrealism expert Stephen Barber is also included; unfortunately, this track is ravishing considerable unlistenable as Barber drones on about the history of surrealism in a deadly tedious manner.

I am not one to usually write reviews on movies, and I can't stand the people who try to analyze every diminutive aspect of movies and write novels of their opinions instead of fair enjoying them for what they are - entertainment!! That being said, I saw this with my mom, and I concept we would descend out of our chairs we were laughing so hard! I Appreciate comic movies, and VERY rarely do I watch one that makes me laugh this hard, so I honest had to write this since the critics were so bad to this movie. Travolta, Allen, Lawrence and Macy are broad together, and I didn't know that Ray Liotta (one of my faves!) was in the movie. This objective made it even better! The entire movie was fine - I can't wait to select the DVD in August!
Wild Hogs is a typical midlife crisis movie. Four men, who have been friends for years and who suit up in leather and swagger to the local bar and grill regularly to hang out, suddenly wonder what happened to their lives. They all realize, one by one, that they've hit middle age and fallen into a rut, and they resolve to retract a unpleasant country plod on their bikes to accept out of it.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Wild Hogs! Click Here

This is one of the more tantalizing movies I've seen in a while. What made it for me, however, was not the residence or even the comedic moments but rather the righteous performances by a substantial cast. John Travolta plays the cool-guy-in-a-midlife-crisis role perfectly, and Tim Allen pulls off his when-did-my-life-get-so-bland section flawlessly as well. Throw in mountainous performances by Martin Lawrence, a man desperate to collect out from under his overbearing wife's thumb, and William H. Macy, a geek who hopes he can FINALLY do something that will fabricate him chilly, and you've got a astronomical group of main characters.

Macy's performance is probably the most surprisingly advantageous of the bunch. He's downright hilarious in this movie as the 'rebel nerd.' And Ray Liotta is top-notch as the villain, the antagonist who tries to refuse this group of "Wild Hogs" their fair to lag on the grounds that they're not trusty bikers.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Wild Hogs! With a relatively unoriginal status this may not have been a colossal film if not for the marvelous cast, but these guys will have you cheering for the middle-aged suburbanite and longing for the originate road yourself.
Schwinn elliptical
fastest way to lose weight

Click Here

This is a very comic movie and is obvious to withhold you entertained. With a relatively unoriginal status this may not have been a colossal film if not for the marvelous cast, but these guys will have you cheering for the middle-aged suburbanite and longing for the originate road yourself.
Schwinn elliptical
fastest way to lose weight

I don't know anything about the game this video is based on. I bought the video because there was a buxom babe on the hide and it said "17+". (If this makes me a pig, so be it.) After a few minutes I learned the basis of the movie, namely, waitresses are fighting in a tournament. The winner gets money; the loser has to buy off her clothes. My first plan on learning this was the intellectual and well-thought-out query: "Whut the--?!"
As I watched more, I can't say the premise made a whole lot more sense, but the movie was decent. The animation was surprisingly suited and the fights were icy, though nowhere approach the level of Street Fighter II: TAM. The chronicle was actually heavenly honorable, too, better than SF2 or Fatal Fury: TMP. The movie also benefitted from who I deem a very frosty villain. This was Damien, the long-limbed, misshapen psychopath whose drug-induced hurry and strength design him more than a match for the fighters of the tournament. My only precise complaint (and here comes my piggishness again) was that there was not as distinguished nudity as I might have hoped. The main character, Yuka, is absolutely fine but never takes it all off. Bummer.
Still, this was a suited title and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't need anime to be as thoughtful as Akira to luxuriate in watching it.
Variable Geo is based on a fighting game, and for that reason alone I was unsure about how to aproach this video (anime based on fighting games don't have that grand of a track report) . The character designs in this video helped to enhance a tale that sometimes pushed the bounderies of believability, providing the characters with an shameful amount of personality. The fights between characters were favorable, but be advised that there is a lot of skin shown (gratuitious fan service) . This isn't an anime you should search for for a serious residence, but for those days when you want to peek something laughable.

Created after an view of the common Japanese droll book author Isaichi Ishii, this movie tells nine comical and attractive episodes from the every day life of a "totally normal" Japanese family.
Mischievousely, "My Neighbours, The Yamadas" describes the problems and quarrels that raise from marriage and generation conflicts. Thus, the author paints the tantalizing and colourful portrait of a family who is an explosive mixture of eccentric, yet highly sympathical individualists.

Buy,Download, Or Stream My Neighbors the Yamadas! Click Here
At the same time the wonderfully drawn movie doesn't lack depth. The poesy of every day life which filters through the lives of the Yamadas is summed up at the raze of each chapter in an haiku (most of them by Basho) . Being a basic allotment of Japanese culture and spirituality, these short poems fit the respective characters' philosophy excellently.
A deeper symbolic dimension opens to the viewer in the partially grotesque/surrealistic scenes of the movie. A flashback shows us the Yamadas as honeymooners riding a immense wedding cake. Long married, they try vehemently to net the upper hand in the daily quarrel over the TV programme and both fight virtuousely in Japanese fencing style over the remote control.
"My Neighbours, The Yamadas" premiered extremely successfully in 2000 at the Anime-Festival in Annecy (France) .
This quirky comical strip family is lovingly brought to life in Houhokekyo tonari no Yamada-kun (My Neighbors the Yamadas) . Mom (Matsuko), Dad (Takashi), Grandma (Shige), Noboru and Nonoko, and family dog Pochi are presented in a series of vignettes, from Matsuko and Takashi's wedding (complete with a dream sequence comparing marriage to a bobsled race and being tossed on stormy seas), to a forgetful day (blame the ginger!), to a hilarious nighttime encounter with motorcycle punks. The animation style is very low-key, taking its visual cues from pen-and-ink comics and a pastel wash. Less is more, as the mere outline of shoji screens and sakura (cherry blossoms) suffices to paint a minimalist represent of new Japan. Poetry by Basho rounds out each clip. This is a astounding introduction to Japanese culture, from apt dining etiquette (DON'T dump your rice into your soup :-), to Japanese homes (noren, airing out futons, site settings, passe food such as miso, tamago, and tempura, changing into slippers when entering homes) wedding ceremonies, and more.

Buy,Download, Or Stream My Neighbors the Yamadas! Click Here

Some reviewers have mentioned that the stories lack cohesiveness, but I greatly enjoyed this recent portrait of family life that looked at parent-child relations, marriage, salarymen, and the power of imagination. Although Disney dubbed this with an all-star cast (James Belushi, David Ogden Stiers), I didn't listen to the English dub, so I can't comment on the English cast (I catch to opinion anime in the modern Japanese with English subtitles to practice my Japanese listening comprehension) . A large departure from other Takahata Isao films (like Grave of the Fireflies), but an savory one nonetheless, particularly if you are already familiar with elements of Japanese culture.

Toddler Furniture
As Seen On Tv Workouts

"Dusky Widow" is an intriguing 1950s destroy mystery spot in the world of theatre, and written and directed by Nunnally Johnson, who made a number of wonderful movies at that time ("How to Marry a Millionaire," "Night People," "The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit," "The Three Faces of Eve") . It stars Van Heflin, Gene Tierney, Ginger Rogers, George Raft, and Peggy Ann Garner as sort of the Eve Harrington of the cast.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Black Widow! But Harry Carter and Richard H. Cutting play policeman, listed on imdb.com, but they are also "uncredited" in the film! So it's totally misleading to ogle those names at the top of the page.) (Note: this complaint has been corrected on this page, but I decided to leave it because I do sign the same say in other listings, where unknown actors in limited roles are listed because they're first in the alphabet.)

So that cramped parenthetical complaint aside, it's a shrimp but fun film. The milieu of theatre is inviting, with Peggy Ann Garner someone on the contrivance up (or hoping to be), and managing to hang out with successful writers and actors, and starting to seduce several of them. Heflin is the serious husband/playwright and a bit of a patsy, Tierney is the "obliging wife," and Ginger Rogers is fun as the grande dame actress who annoys everyone a bit. Peggy Ann Garner was the small girl so edifying in "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn." This is one of her adult roles, and she does a profitable job. It's not a classic, but an arresting B film with some A list stars and some reliable dialogue from Mr. Johnson. I'm happy it's going to be out on dvd.
What a joy it was to scrutinize that this rarely seen 1950's execute mystery spot against the glamour, ambition and attend stabbing ruthlessness of Recent York's Theatre world was finally making it to a DVD release! Often mistakenly referred to as a "Film Noir", "Shaded Widow", really doesn't fit that bill at all, saturated as it is in blooming colour photography, radiant costumes, and larger than life characters that are far removed from the types normally associated with the "Noir" genre of movie making. Aside from that minor point "Dusky Widow", is tremendously engrossing and boasts a valid cast of actors and actresses from Hollywood's Golden Age in a record in some respects in a similiar vein to the legendary "All About Eve". It has the added twist of a cancel mystery complete with plenty of Red Herrings thrown in for superb measure that really does maintain you guessing if you haven't viewed the film before. One of the substantial surprises of "Sunless Widow", for me was seeing the sublime Ginger Rogers in one of her most showy,( and I might add very non-traditional for her) later roles from the time when her film career was beginning to wind down. This role for Ginger couldn't be further removed from the beloved characters she famously brought to life at RKO Studios in the 1930's opposite the legendary Fred Astaire. She is a bitchy delight here as the catty and acid tongued "Margo Channing-like", Diva who among a cast including Van Heflin, Gene Tierney, Reginald Gardiner, and Otto Kruger, is a suspect in the cancel of aspiring young writer Peggy Ann Garner in the very heart of Unique York's elite and glamourous Theatre world...........
Waring Juicer
Smoothie Blenders

When I first saw this for sale I was absolutely giddy with excitement. One of the greatest shows of my childhood was now available on DVD! I got it home and popped it in and..."I don't remember it being this lame? " For what it's worth, there were some nostalgic moments. One, was finally seeing my heroes in their knowing costumes saving the day and another was hearing Key-op talk in his very amusing plot, "Brrrrrr-toot-toot!" But after that I idea everything else was fairly second-rate. It's astounding what stunning images I can conjure in my memory of this indicate, and how the reality of my adult perspective shatters all the charm it once held. However, there are the "Gatchaman" episodes, which is the only feature of this DVD that saves it from being a complete failure. While "Battle of the Planets" is broken up with freeze-framing and the intensely annoying 7-Zark-7 filling in status holes with voice-over narration, not to mention his equally annoying companion 1-Rover-1 doing his side-show antics, the "Gatchaman" episodes bolt more fluidly with more action and acceptable violence. If I had known better I would have bought only the "Gatchaman" episodes. It honest fits the ideas better that they allege in Japanese. I've seen enough Japanese animation to know that more things are possible in the hyper-reality of their highly creative shows than in the saccharin-based shows of America where the violence is tempered, if shown at all. Something that I recently noticed about world-wide animation is that virtualy all the characters are caucasian. Being white, I guess I fair never noticed. Most Japanese animation, in particular, has a tendency toward white Americanized heroes. It might be because we are the largest consumer nation in the world, but this is not a fresh trend. Objective like the cutting-edge animation from Japan like "Final Fantasy: the Spirits Within," the prove "Battle of the Planets" has an all-white cast. It's honest an attractive, cultural notice, one that makes more sense these days than in days past. Anyway, salvage the "Gatchaman" series on DVD if you must bid on purchasing anything for nostalgia's sake. I got this out of a deep-seeded feeling of nostalgia, and I was disappointed overall. Be careful.
It's about time someone achieve out this gargantuan cartoon series on DVD! It certain beats shelling out the several thousand dollars that the Japanese Laserdiscs are demanding. THANK YOU, Rhino!!!
I contemplate it was a stroke of brilliance on the allotment of Rhino to team up episodes of Battle of the Planets with the corresponding G-Force (Turnerized version of the demonstrate) and Gatchaman (orignal Japanese version) episodes. This gives the viewer the ability to view how the prove was ORIGINALLY envisioned as Gatchaman (THANK YOU for the subtitles, Rhino!), how it was pathetically watered down as Battle of the Planets (I hope 7-Zark-7 rusts!!) and how G-Force tried to strike a balance by leaving in more of the violence and action (yet level-headed missing the consistency and spin evidenced in the Japanese version) .
The only pickle I encountered on the DVDs dealt with the audio tracks for both Gatchaman episodes -- the one on Volume 1 and the one on Volume 2. The English audio track was VERY indecent and sounded like people were speaking underwater. It was unintelligible. Does anyone else out there have this plight with these disks? ...For the characterize, the Spanish and Portuguese audio tracks work fair dazzling on the G-Force episodes (in case you exclaim Spanish or Portuguese!)

Buy,Download, Or Stream Battle of the Planets, Vol. 1!

My wife and I both agree, that this is about the best horseracing movie we've seen, all the map around--cast, direction, script, soundtrack. The premise is a movie cliche, of course, and the waste is grand predictable. What makes this movie rise above all the others is mostly the advantageous cast.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dreamer - Inspired By a True Story! Kris Kristoferson is his distant and mouthy father, a glowing choice for the role. Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Shue are honest suitable in their parts--archetypical rather than stereotypical. The string music speaks of Kentucky, but not of the hills.

Morse plays the instrument of the sellout, money, power, and corruption, a impart that slight time horse trainers will perceive as lawful. The conflict here is between values, the slick money men vs. flesh-and-blood people. The Saudi princes obtain a role in here, but they are neither bashed nor glorified. Kentuckians will notice many bit players in here too, including jockey Tammy Fox.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dreamer - Inspired By a True Story! The last half of the movie is a fantasy, but we happen to know some fantasies that came legal.

Not unbiased that an independent smalltime horseman can gain a gigantic rush, although that happens now and then--no, more often the design this fantasy works out is, that someone who loves horses gets to expend a lifetime working with them, while supporting their family, and free of the corruption of drugs and the cheap and commercial fleet buck.

Independently poor--but by God independent.
Dakota Fanning's original horse film, "Dreamer", was not a movie I was planning to witness. The trailer was kind of uninteresting and while I like a respectable horse epic there's a lot out there accurate now. But I got free tickets, so I went. And while "Dreamer" doesn't reach such gold standards as "National Velvet" or "The Dark Stallion", the film is a well-made and ultimately thrilling anecdote of a horse and its girl.

Fanning stars as Cale Crane, the latest in a long line of horse people in the Crane family. The Cranes have fallen on hard times: their horse farm is being sold off allotment by share, Mom has to steal up shifts in a diner, and when one night a horse Mr. Crane is training takes a poor descend Dad loses his job and inherits the busted-up horse to boot.

Universally advised to achieve the horse down, Crane (Kurt Russel) instead plans to fix her up unprejudiced enough so he can breed her. How that rather reasonable opinion evolves into a notion to speed the horse, whose name "Sonador" means "dreamer" in Spanish, is the fun of the movie and what makes it a notch above the typical "inspirational" epic.

The first half of the film drags a bit (shots of clouds going by and grass standing collected don't befriend), but it gets better, and Fanning as usual is enormous. I concept the young kids in the audience I was with would be bored by the relatively dreary tone, but they absolutely loved the movie, and for the entire last five minutes of the film they were cheering and yelling and you couldn't hear what was going on in the film. Based on that reaction I give this film four stars and recommended it to families, especially those with any horse-loving girls. Objective elaborate to your kids that jumping off the house roof onto hay bales is a unpleasant plan, no matter what Fanning does.

GRADE: B
Smoothie Blenders
Home Office Bookcases

I saw this in theatres when first released. I was a kid, and awestruck. Then the VHS came along. It was superb. And now, the best DVD you could imagine! The film could stand on its enjoy, and at a suitable trace. The extras are obliging...2 short documentaries, and a scripted "making of" engrossing Disney himself. Loads of fun! The improbable Albert Sharpe came out of retirement to form this, and he is interesting as a tack; a thoroughly complete performance. He should've had Oscar recognition. For that matter, this film was not nominated for any Oscars at all. The sweet ballad "Irish Lass", though a hit at the time, was ignored, as well as the astonishing Special Effects...and, sadly, Sharpe's performance. The most involving element of the film is seeing Sean Connery with hair (? ) ; he gives a beautiful performance and isn't that awful a singer; proper insight about how he got this role, in the extras, but I won't blab away the stuff. Janet Munro made her Disney debut, here, and he extinct her in many others (I liked her in "Swiss Family Robinson") . I don't know what happened to her. She later gave a distinguished performance in "The Day the Earth Caught Fire"; I really like her a lot. She is a natural beauty. This is PURE Disney...sweet, serious, and especially, astronomical for kids. Let the fantasy engage them to another station, as it did for me, when I first watched it. It's Albert Sharpe, though, that gives the crowning performance of his extraordinary career. Leer it. Like it. Always beget...
Disney made a slew of films in the early to middle 60's in England, and they are such mountainous whole family films. They are releasing The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh, with the bright Patrick McGoohan at the same time this one comes out. I hope it's trend from Disney, because there are a lot of costume historicals that I would cherish to maintain from their British Period.
This film has long be a fav of mine. Succor before Connery because forevermore in our mind James Bond, he did this nifty miniature Irish Drama. He is coming to win over for an Irish lord as factor, displacing an customary man and his daughter. Moonlight and Magick has Connery beginning to plunge for the daughter and charmed by the primitive man. But Da is not going down without a fight. He catches the King of the Wee People and plans of getting his three wishes.
It's done with Irish faerytale charm, Connery is obliging dashing as the novel hunk, (even present his South Pacific singing exclaim), the Irish myths are loving retold, making this a delight anytime, but a must for St. Paddy's day!
Pilates Equipment
Waring Juicer

I really like Transformers, a lot! I was there at the dawn of the G1 Series, and have seen almost every other (Japanese) Transformer series that followed, including the very dreadful attempts at adapting a few of these series for the U.S. Though none of these series were on par with even the slowest/silliest G1 Episodes! Beast Wars, & Transformers: Armada were fun, for the most fragment and had some of the "spirit" of the G1 series, but weren't quite there. Now we have the newest series: Transformers Appealing. I saw some of the early designs for the "modern" versions of the classic characters at the San Diego ComicCon a few years ago, and opinion that they might be a puny too cartoony, but they aloof looked kind of icy. Although, I mild cannot stand Optimus Prime with a mouth!!! Anyway, I started watching this series with my nephews, and found myself really enjoying the stories (simple as they are), and the animation as well. The first season is well-behaved, and the second season is a bit better. So, if you haven't watched any of this series, please give it a try. You might relish it more than you deem you would!
TF Enchanting season 2 was one of the best seasons of any Transformers cartoon I have seen in a while. There are a lot of G1 cameos in this season, as well as all around substantial stories and artwork.

Of all the versions of les Miserables that I've seen (and I've seen a few of them), this is by far and away the best and also closest to the spirit of the book. The whole film is imbued with an atmosphere which transports you to a different time and position. The legend absorbs you, the characters reach alive. The composition of the images often gives the impression that they have been carefully sketched out, in the manner of Eisenstein or Bergman - only they have a simplicity that does not intimidate. The telling of the epic, the acting, the scenery makes it an immortal film - it collected makes you yowl and it does not resort to Holywood's tricks to do so. For me it is amongst the top ten films ever made.
As of this writing I have seen six different film versions of Victor Hugo's classic unusual. Not until viewing Raymond Bernard's version had I felt like I had seen the definitive filming of LES MISERABLES.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Eclipse Series 4 - Raymond Bernard (Wooden Crosses / Les Miserables! Yes - filmmaking had only been around for a few years and you may assume that the later versions would be more technically advanced and estimable of re-creating the fresh in a more fully realized fashion. Nothing could be further from the truth. After viewing the 1934 version, I interrogate why anyone chose to remake the film to launch with?

From the opening shot of the contorted, gnarled, grimacing figure carved into stone being held up by a similar human figure literally carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders to the final shot of the two candlesticks slowly extinguishing simultaneously with Jean Valjean's last breath. The candlesticks representing so many aspects of Jean Valjean's life - oppression, thievery, poverty, wealth, light and finally death. Jules Kruger's vivid cinematography utilizes not only the German expressionistic style that was accepted then (shadows, light, angles, etc...), but the occasional handheld camera work was years ahead of it's time.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Eclipse Series 4 - Raymond Bernard (Wooden Crosses / Les Miserables! When viewing films of that era it seems that grand melodrama goes into the performances. But from the first moment you observe the subtlety, sincerity and honesty of Harry Baur's performance as Jean Valjean, you are mesmerized. He encompassed all that made Jean Valjean such a honorable, dignified, compassionate and tragic figure in the fresh. I will always represent Jean Valjean as portrayed by the gleaming Harry Baur. All the other performers totally give of themselves to build the characters reach to life. They bring you along with them on their scramble. You truly experience their effort and joys and at each tragic turn you feel like you have lost a factual friend.

I was entertained and transported for nearly 5 hours. The quality of the film, the storytelling, the acting and the care that went into this production stayed with me long after the candles burned out.
